The film is written, produced and directed by Coop Cooper (The Small Town Critic) with a production crew that consists entirely of Clarksdale, Mississippi residents.
“The Best Day” is a 15-minute science fiction short about an innocent child in a dire situation. Jenny arrives home from school, excited that newly “resurrected” Mommy has returned, only to find that something is very wrong with her. When Mommy’s memories fully return, so do the tragedies of the past. They were once human, now part of a cruel experiment that repeats over and over… and it is all Daddy’s fault.
The lead role of “Jenny” will be played by Anna Carson Tyner:
Anna Carson Tyner is an eleven year old sixth grader at St. George’s Episcopal Day School in Clarksdale, Mississippi. She enjoys singing, playing the piano, reading and hanging out with her friends. This is Anna Carson’s first time to be cast in a film.
The role of “Mommy” will be played by Amye Gousset:
Amye Gousset, resides in Tupelo, MS with her family. She has appeared in several national commercials, films and on stages throughout the South, Southeast and Midwest. Starting out as a model in her teens, she appeared in Seventeen Magazine and was a catalog model for JC Penny. She went on to appear in commercials and print ads for Jones Store NY; Dove and Pantene. Some of Amye’s favorite roles include Gypsy Rose Lee in “Gypsy”; Shelby in “Steel Magnolias” and Ophelia in “Hamlet”. In 2010 she was blessed with the opportunity of hanging out with Bryce Dallas Howard for three months while working as her Stand In on the DreamWorks’ Production, “The Help”, slated to be in theaters in 2011. Amye is more than thrilled for the opportunity to be a part of “The Best Day”! She feels blessed to get to do what she loves and is thankful she has such a loving husband who supports her “hobby”.
The role of “Daddy” will be played by David Dallas:
“Dallas has appeared in television specials, national commercials, and performed on stages from New York to Seattle. He was featured performer in two award-winning independent films. He is the author of several screenplays and two one-man shows, including ‘A Gentleman from Mississippi’ which toured nationally.” (from the Delta Regional Medical Center Website)
The role of “Miss Vargas” will be played by Lois McMurchy:
A world-traveller who has lived in Oklahoma, Italy, Mexico City, Equador, and Oxford, MS; Lois has been a community leader in Clarksdale for over 20 years. She is currently the vice president of community development for the Delta Bridge project in Coahoma County, MS. This is the first role in a fictional film for Lois. As a 6th grade teacher at Lee Academy from 1986-1987, she taught Coop Cooper to write his first short screenplay, propelling him into a lifelong love of film and screenwriting.
