TRON LEGACY teaser trailer made me weak in the knees… by COOP

Not since The Empire Strikes Back have I anticipated a movie so eagerly. Tron was one of the biggest cinematic staples of my childhood. I can’t imagine a world without it. Finally, we are about to get a sequel.
Tron Legacy (formerly Tron 2.0 and TR2N) has been a twinkle on the horizon for many years now. Four years ago or so, Jeff Bridges did an interview wearing his old Flynn helmet which sparked speculation that something was on stove. Rumors emerged about a sort of digital-age Apocalypse Nowstory which involved Flynn disappearing into the digital world and ruling over it like some sort of deranged Col. Kurtz.
Then Tron 2.0 the videogame showed up and kind of dashed everyone’s hopes. Don’t get me wrong, the game was cool (I never got to finish it because a flawed disk), but it seemed it was the sequel that the rumors were based around.
Flash forward to last-year’s ComicCon where Disney stunned audiences with some “concept footage” that proved work on the sequel was beginning. A video of the footage shot of a camera phone leaked onto the net. You could barely make out what was going on but what you could see impressed none-the-less.
Exactly a year later, Disney has released the footage to the public and stamped their seal of approval on it as no longer concept footage, but as a teaser trailer for the actual film. Now seeing the full trailer in all its hi-rez glory I can’t help but get all psyched up about it.
Watch below and let the trailery goodness fill you up with beans. Digital beans.
Yowza.
Daft Punk will create an original score for Tron Legacyand while I’m not familiar with their work, the word around the campfire is that they are an inspired choice. Then I saw this new ComicCon footage. The claim is that this is actual Daft Punk music created for the film. It grows on you so fast, you’ll want it for your iPod right away…
Can you even imagine what the viral marketing for this is going to be like? I’m expecting a wild ride (on a light cycle of course) from now until the film releases. Tron Legacy will release in 2010. Let the madness begin…

That’s the first time I’ve seen the trailer for Tron! It was filmed here (here being Vancouver BC) and my husband and a friend both worked on the film as extras. They had to sign something stating they won’t discuss the film, so I suppose I shouldn’t be talking about it either. I will say this…my hubby says the sets and costumes are very impressive.
I like the choice of Daft Punk for the music!
Dammit. Now I have to install Tron 2.0 and unlock all the light cycle races. YOU SEE WHAT YOU DO TO ME?!?!?!
