Neo the ninja! The creators of THE MATRIX return with a NINJA ASSASSIN trailer! by COOP

Meh?  First of all, this MTV exclusive trailer is of very poor quality.  You can’t tell what’s going on half the time.  What’s really disturbing is even though you can’t make out much, you can still see how crappy the CGI throwing stars and digital blood look.  Then you have ninjas with machine guns and rocket launchers, mystical Shinobi magic, a ninja getting run over by a car…  What is all this junk?

Hey Wachowskis, the 80’s called and they want their ninja movie back. 

I wish this was an old-school 80’s ninja movie.  Where’s Sho Kosugi when you need him?  Oh wait…  I see on IMDB that he’s actually in Ninja Assassin.  I couldn’t tell that was him, the video was so bad. Okay, that DOES make feel a little better, but from the trailer, I don’t see any 80’s ninja movie influences.  Instead it looks like a goofy, out of control native Japanese, live-action anime.  While that might thrill some, I have trouble giving a flip about it.  Where’s my live-action Akira?  I’ve only been waiting for that for like 21 years. 

Then again director James McTeigue did make a great V for Vendetta adaptation.  Clearer trailers and some good word of mouth might get my interest up for this one.  Until then, we have to contend with this trailer…

This and they are bringing back the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  Sigh.  Looks like it’s a bad time to be a good ninja.
