Deadpool/Hannibal King is Green Lantern… Ryan Reynolds is in! by COOP

After a redonkulous amount of speculation and BS concerning who would wear the super-power ring of the Green Lantern Corps, a winner has emerged. Ryan Reynolds who has played two minor superheroes in Blade 3 and X-Men Origins: Wolverine has been called up to the big leagues. After beating out Bradley Cooper, Justin Timberlake, Sam Worthington, Jack Black and Larry the Cable Guy, Reynolds finally gets a D.C. Comics staple to launch a franchise.
I may be the only movie blogger in the world who’s only slightly unhappy about this.
Every time someone mentioned the idea of a movie based on The Flash, his name came up. He would’ve made a perfect Wally West. He’s lanky, looks like a runner and has a smart mouth. Perfect casting choice. Now that’ll never happen. Plus a Deadpool movie spinoff could have cleared the stank away from the atrocity that befell him in the Wolverine movie.

Reynolds will make a fine GL. It’s just that taking this role will leave him ineligible for other things I’d rather see him in. I don’t wanna see a wisecracking GL, but The Flash? Poifect. Oh well.
Hopefully Bradley Cooper will be available for The Flash whenever that turbine spins up again.

The comic book readers among my friends have a long list of complaints about this casting. They LOVED the idea of Reynolds playing the Flash but have plenty to say about why he’s wrong for Green Lantern. I suspect the company auditioned Justin Timberlake thinking the fans might go, “Whew! They didn’t cast Timberlake!”
