COOP COOPER is an independently syndicated film critic with a split personality. His "Southern Side" prints mainstream reviews that appear in various print publications across the mid-south. His "Dark Side" from Los Angeles befouls the site with reviews of horror and grindhouse flicks. Welcome to the site where COOP's two halves (and his contributors) review and debate the latest film/DVD releases...

Right on, bro. That's the way to make it work for ya. I wish I had your setup. Once I do, I'll chuck most of my entertainment expenses as well!

Re: Netflix: "Only their free (with disk rental subscription) online streaming quality is below par"
Online streaming is a reflection of bandwidth. The queue system works well and I have never had worse than standard broadcast quality, almost always get dvd quality and when source permits, HD quality via my tivo hd. My son gets dvd quality via his roku box via wifi. We have had occasional problems with a chosen title but then we only have 11,999 other choices. The true advantage of the system is we have often waited several days for a dvd via the mail and then been dissapointed from the outset (the Reader comes to mind) then there is a 2 day turnaround (plus weekends/holidays) for another dvd via Netflix mail, where as with streaming if you don't like the program you've chosen, a few minutes or less later you have your next streaming choice showing.

I've dropped the cable addiction and between the Netflix streaming, TV.com and Hulu via my desktop to my hd tv via a 15' dvi cable, network programming and 3 pbs stations in the orlando market where I live via digital broadcast tv. I don't have enough time to watch half of what I want to and have access to.

$9/month for Netflix and the rest for free sure beats the $80/month I was spending for cable and DVR. In 10 months my Tivo HD with lifetime subscription is paid off.
