Who ya gonna call? Harold Ramis confirms GHOSTBUSTERS 3 rumors! by COOP

Thanks to MTV for this one…
While promoting his comedy “Year One” starring Jack Black and Michael Cera, Harold Ramis suggests that the old Ghostbusting crew of himself, Murry and Aykroyd (I’m hoping Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis and Annie Potts are signed up as well) will strap on their proton packs to go specter bustin’ once again… so to speak.
Supposedly the senior “busters” will act as mentors to a younger generation of enterprising paranormal bounty hunters. What did you expect? It’s been 20 years since “Ghostbusters 2.” With the original cast getting long in the tooth, it makes sense to pass the torch to a hotter group of new stars.
While Ramis said he and the rest of the original cast are still waiting for a script, he seems confident “Ghostbusters 3″ will happen and all of the additional rumors surrounding it seems to confirm the claim. It would seem that comedy go-to guy Judd Apatow has been tapped to produce, so one might guess at some of the young talent he might grab up for the next sequel.
I’m boggling at the possibilities: Steve Carell, Seth Rogen, Jack Black, Michael Cera, Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd, Terry Crews, Justin Long, Craig Robinson, Jay Baruchel… all fair game. I’m predicting at least 3 of these guys will secure starring roles in this film. Let’s hope Ben Stiller never even gets consideration.
This news comes on the heels of a new “Ghostbusters” video game that managed to secure the voices of the original cast. The news of this development (over a year ago) re-kindled interest in the long slumbering franchise enough to get fans salivating and actors, producers, etc. seeing dollar signs. If this movie does indeed happen, it better be top notch. The fans wouldn’t tolerate anything less.
Here’s footage of the new “Ghostbusters” video game releasing June 2009…

If they go through with this (and I hope they do) it better rock my socks off. Those movies were huge favorites of mine. I would be crushed if they tainted my childhood memories of perfection. I trust Apatow, just not hollywood:(
