Wonka Horror!!! Watch Chrisopher “Doc Brown” Lloyd chew up the scenery in GOBSTOPPER! by DARK SIDE

This one has me utterly stymied.

A horror version of Willy Wonka. While the other two Wonka incarnations (”Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,” [1971] “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” [2005]) had many a creepy moment, I suppose a turn like this was inevitable.

Some of our most beloved fairy tales have received the horror treatment. Anybody remember “Snow White: A Tale of Terror” (1997)? How about the immortal classic “The Company of Wolves” (1984) based on “Red Riding Hood?” I hear there’s a project called “Dark Oz” slated for 2010.

Maybe “Gobstopper” signals the resurgence of this trend. I can’t tell if this aims to be a feature, but the “Funny or Die” label suggests it may not go past a short film. Most likely, the buck stops at the trailer. The spoof-like nature, plus the redonkulous “boner” jokes, tell me not to expect any more effort on this from director Eric Appel. With Christopher Lloyd involved, it’s just too good to be true.

Plus, I’m sure there are rights issues.

Eric, hopefully you’ll get some good feedback from this faux trailer because I’d actually like to see this one as a feature. Wee Man as a flesh-eating Oompa Loompa? Genius!

Trailer for “Gobstopper” below…

I got a golden ticket!!!
