URGENT!!! Watch SPLINTER on the Sci-Fi Channel this weekend before it arrives on DVD! by DARK SIDE

The Sci-Fi Channel, despite creating a good series or two (”Battlestar,” “Eureka”), always has the crappiest movies programmed into their lineup, ESPECIALLY on the weekends. I swear every time I turn it on it’s usually some moronic, cheap-ass, giant animal movie like “Boa vs. Python 2″ or “Ice Spiders.” Usually, Lou Diamond Phillips stars.

This weekend is different. Somehow they got smart and picked up the indie horror film “Splinter” to premiere on the channel this Saturday night (Feb. 14) at 9/8C with an encore presentation on Sunday night (Feb. 15) at 7/6C, but check your local listings to make sure of the correct time in your zone!

This is terrific. It’s a nasty little number in the vein of “The Thing” and “Feast,” only more understated. I only gave it three stars but I look back upon it fondly. It’s one of those movies I’ll probably watch over and over again because of the nifty monster effects (read my original review of it and see the trailer HERE).

So watch it this weekend. What have you got better to do? Go out? Go to church? Yeah, right.
