The new footage doesn't make TALES OF AN ANCIENT EMPIRE altogether promising for the following three reasons: 1) The quasi-English accents had me chuckling. 2) The folksy guitar soundtrack belongs in a chick flick. We need goddamm trumpets! 3) The scene is flat. It's not about anything and there's no conflict. Hey, better a slap in the face than a stab in the back. Yikes! The new footage doesn’t make TALES OF AN ANCIENT EMPIRE altogether promising for the following three reasons:

1) The quasi-English accents had me chuckling.
2) The folksy guitar soundtrack belongs in a chick flick. We need goddamm trumpets!
3) The scene is flat. It’s not about anything and there’s no conflict.

I am beyond excited for this film to be released. Like the 1980 FLASH GORDON, THE SWORD AND THE SORCERER was one of those gems that I felt captured the spirit of the 1930's pulp epic fantasies even better than some of the more main stream theatrical releases like CONAN THE BARBARIAN (though CTB was quite fantastic). If only Bruce Campbell could get a supporting role -- or at least a cameo. Let's hope epic fantasy gets another decade! What do you think?

I am beyond excited for this film to be released. Like the 1980 FLASH GORDON, THE SWORD AND THE SORCERER was one of those gems that I felt captured the spirit of the 1930’s pulp epic fantasies even better than some of the more main stream theatrical releases like CONAN THE BARBARIAN (though CTB was quite fantastic). If only Bruce Campbell could get a supporting role — or at least a cameo. Let’s hope epic fantasy gets another decade!
